Mission Statement
St. Brigid Catholic Elementary School, a partnership of students, staff, home and Church is dedicated to exemplifying Catholic values in an environment which promotes the dignity, respect and potential of all students.
About Our School
St. Brigid School is located in Georgetown, Ontario. We are part of the Halton Catholic District School Board and we are a feeder school to Christ the King Catholic Secondary School. We offer programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Our school has a double gym, a stage, a large library, a full computer lab, and a beautiful forum area in the centre of the school. Our facility was built with the special needs child in mind. We have a special bathroom and change area and an elevator that makes the second floor accessible.
The school works in partnership with the church. We belong to Holy Cross Parish and are fortunate to have priests who invite us to celebrate Mass at Holy Cross Church, to visit the school for grade level liturgies, and administer the Sacraments for our Grade 2 and 7 students.
St. Brigid is truly a community school. There is a YMCA daycare facility run by the town that offers a before and after school program. Local Community groups also use the school in the evenings and on the weekends for activities and sports programs.
School Prayer
Lord Jesus,
I give you my hands to do your work.
I give you my feet to go your way.
I give you my eyes to see as you do.
I give you my tongue to speak your words.
I give you my mind that you may think in me.
I give you my spirit that you may pray in me.
Above all,
I give you my heart that you may love in me.
I give you my whole self that you may grow in me.
Amen
St. Brigid pray for us.
Athletics
The implementation of the Daily Physical Activity mandate begun in 2006-2007 continues to be a focus at our school. A Daily Physical Activity committee was formed in order to facilitate on-site teacher in-service and provide resources for the classroom activities. During the year, the 20 minute D.P.A. period continues to be integrated into the teacher’s timetables, and on the days that the students do not have Physical Education, they have 20 minutes of Daily Physical Activity.
Students in J.K. to Grade 2 have daily Physical Education classes, and students in Grades 3 to 8 have classes twice during the week.
Students may participate in cross country running, track and field, and interschool volleyball, soccer and basketball.
