Old Markham Village

Old Markham Village is the neighbourhood based around Main St, a downtown area with a rich history. Originally settled in 1825, the village, originally named Reesorville, was founded by Mennonites from Upstate New York and Pennsylvania. Today, Main Street Markham is a unique commercial district blending history and tradition with modern and new shops, spas, art studios, cafes, pubs, restaurants, services and activities. Residences in the area include older homes along with new, larger homes that are infilling and replacing the older homes, as well as high-rise buildings. A variety of events, such as music festivals and parades, take place in this inviting neighbourhood.
