Our Programs

Dr. Montessori believed that every person must educate himself: that a teacher is merely there to provide information and to guide a student through the learning environment. She felt, therefore, that the goal of early childhood education should be to nurture a child’s curiosity, a love for knowledge and a strong desire to learn.

Casa

2.5 - 3.5 YEARS OLD

For most children, this will be their first experience in a classroom and thus will spend a great deal of time familiarizing themselves with the classroom routine, learning to socialize with their peers, and will begin their learning journey in the Montessori environment. The Casa class is an introduction to the five different areas of the Montessori classroom and prepares the foundation in each of the areas.

• Language Arts: Phonetic Sounds & Reading, Printing Letters
• Mathematics: Numbers & Quantities, Printing Numbers
• Sensorial Area: Discrimination of Dimension & Spatial Relationships
• Cultural Studies: Learning About the World Around Us
• Practical Life Activities: Personal Care & Care of the Environment

Preparatory

3.5 - 4.5 YEARS OLD

In this classroom, children may be new to the program or have graduated from the Casa program. For new children, they will start learning the foundations of the Montessori program, while returning students continue on with their learning. Children in the Montessori program work at their own pace in a non-competitive environment. Thus each child has their own unique learning program. Students will further their skills in each of the 5 areas of the Montessori classroom.

• Language Arts: Practicing Printing & Reading Skills
• Mathematics: Learning Addition/Subtraction, Skip-Counting
• Sensorial Area: Practicing Concentration
• Cultural Studies: Learning Independence & Confidence
• Practical Life: Developing a love of 'work'

Senior Preparatory

4.5 - 5.5 YEARS OLD

In this classroom, returning students are mastering their skills in the Montessori Curriculum while new students will begin with the foundation work.

Students will continue to work with the Montessori apparatus, learning more advanced materials and exploring different concepts and ideas.

• Language Arts: Refining Reading/Writing Skills
• Mathematics: Concepts like Time, More/Less Than, Fractions
• Sensorial Development: Concrete Understanding of Dimension & Spatial Relationships
• Cultural Studies: Geography, History, Social Studies
• Practical Life: Further Development of Fine Motor Skills & Concentration
