Our School
The school is named after Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, first son of Queen Elizabeth II. mOur school mascot is the Panther. Our school motto is "Panther Pride". Prince Charles P.S. opened in 1950. In subsequent years, three permanent additions have been added over the years to accommodate the size and needs of the student population.
Programs
As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Prince Charles P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
Our school:
- promotes a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is done through the Board's Safe Schools Policy and Procedures and the Character Education Initiatives
- Currently is an 'ECO -GOLD' status YRDSB School. We have an incredible ECO club of staff and students supporting many ecology initiatives
- is a Ministry certified 'Healthy School' as part of our Healthy Schools commitment to physical fitness.
- is committed to continued literacy and numeracy improvement as part of our School Improvement Plan.
- has established strong partnerships with YMCA, Ontario Early Years, Food for Learning, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, York Regional Police, Early Intervention Services, Newmarket Public Library, Children's Aid Society, Kinark Child and Family Services.

Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The York Region District School Board has a Safe Schools Policy and a defined procedure to implement the policy. Both the policy and procedure support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences.
In addition, Prince Charles P.S. supports the development of character education in the York Region District School Board. Students take part in the annual Together We're Better Conference and present an Anti-Racism Assembly for the school. Positive character traits are emphasized explicitly in classroom presentations, assemblies and supported by the Panther Paw recognition program and Winnit program.
