Dr. David R. Williams PS is a dual track English and French Immersion school. It opened in September 2020 as a JK‐7 ENG and Grades 2-6 FI school. Dr. David Rhys Willliams, an Oakville resident, is an Emergency Physician, Healthcare Executive, Canadian Astronaut, Aquanaut, Exploration Scientist, Author, and Commercial Pilot. Dr. Williams was a mission specialist on two Space Shuttle Missions in 1998 and 2007, and an Aquanaut on three Undersea Research Missions (2001, 2004, 2006). Dr. Williams has received numerous career honours and awards including Officer of the Order of Canada (2013), Order of Ontario (2014), and the Award of Excellence from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (2015).
Rural Oakville, north of the city core, contains a mix of new developments, farmland, parkland, and yet-to-be-developed areas. The "New Communities of Oakville" are being built in this area, including 407 West, Sixteen Hollow, Glenorchy, and Joshua’s Meadows. The residential areas are planned to be large, single-detached homes, semi-detached homes, and 2- and 3-storey townhomes. These neighbourhoods are designed to be walkable communities with easy access to parks and trails as well as shopping and services.
