Our School

Maple Ridge Public School is a dual-track school (English and French Immersion) of approximately 650 students. Our English program ranges from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, with French Immersion offered for Grade 1-8 students. Located just north of the 401 in Pickering, we are a community school, with some of our students within walking distance of the school and many of our students taking a school bus to school to participate in our French Immersion program.

At Maple Ridge Public School we believe all students can learn. Through mutual respect within the total community, our children will grow and learn in a positive atmosphere where staff, parents, and students are enthusiastic about the teaching and learning process. Since 1988, Maple Ridge P.S. has a rich history of commitment to providing balanced programs focusing on academics, athletics, the arts and character education. Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Social Studies, and the Arts are our school-wide focus and a variety of extra-curricular activities are offered in order to deliver a well-balanced curriculum and to educate the whole child. Maple Ridge is fortunate to have an extremely active and dedicated School Community Council which continues to provide moral and financial support. Students profit from our many keen parent volunteers who enrich our school on a daily basis.

Academic Expectations

At Maple Ridge P.S., we are proud of our high academic expectations and the consistently excellent performance of our students. Students are expected be prepared for class with all necessary materials and work completed, so that programs can be taught effectively. Students are expected to work to the best of their ability. Students are expected to complete all assignments by the deadline set. Students are taught, with age-appropriate expectations, to credit their sources and follow copyright laws. Students are taught research skills, and plagiarism will not be accepted.
