Programs
As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Beverley Acres P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and through many other co-curricular activities. The extra-curricular program includes activities such as, choirs, band, sports, pouces verts, the green team, etc. The type of activities varies according to the interest/expertise of teachers and parent volunteers. Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The York Region District School Board has a Safe Schools Policy and a defined procedure to implement the policy. Both the policy and procedure support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences.
In addition, Beverley Acres P.S. supports the development of character education in the York Region District School Board. Our school focus on character attributes is evident through the Code of Behavior. Here are some examples:
- Respect - students respect the rights and dignity of students, staff and other adults
- Honesty - Students are encouraged to be honest, sincere and to tell the truth
- Perseverance - Students persevere in learning and communicating in French and to achieve academic excellence
- Responsibility - Students assume responsibility for their own actions
- Initiative and Empathy - Students initiate and participate in many charitable activities throughout the year such as Stephen Lewis Foundation, the Guatemala Relief Fund, the Food Bank and support of a Foster Child.
