Wellesworth Junior School is located in a small, family-oriented community, west of Highway 427 and north of Rathburn Road. We serve about 180 students comprised of a variety of cultures. 30% of Wellesworth's students speak a home language other than English. Wellesworth JS has three self-contained special education program classes. We provide students with significant blocks of time for the study of literacy and numeracy as well as the integration of other subjects. We welcome parents and community involvement. We are very proud of our annual community events. Wellesworth is a Student of the Month school, and all students are taught to adopt the TDSB Character Education attributes.
Platinum ECO School
Wellesworth is proud to be one of the few certified Platinum Eco Schools in TDSB. Our Eco Team, comprised of students, parents and staff, work together to promote ecologically responsible and sustainable attitudes and behaviour throughout our school community. Students actively monitor energy use, waste reduction, recycling, a walk to school program and litterless lunches. We have designed and implemented a comprehensive greening plan for our extensive school grounds which includes the planting of many trees, the installation of landscape rocks and the maintenance of our naturalization areas.

History and Present Day
The school's cornerstone was laid in 1960 with the first cohort of students beginning in October, 1961. Some of our current students are children of those who attended the school themselves. We believe our cultural and linguistic diversity is a strength of the school.

Wellesworth continues to be one of the first schools that implemented the Ministry of Education's Early Learning Program. We believe that the Early Learning program will provide children with "a better start and a firmer foundation for future success in school and in life"

Student Life - Where You Belong
Our first priority is raising the levels of student achievement for all of our students while promoting mental health and well-being. Teachers bring a wealth of expertise and ideas to the learning experience of each child, along with high expectations for performance. Co-curricular activities supplement student life at Wellesworth, through music, competitive athletics, visual arts, dance, intramural sports and a variety of clubs.
What Sets Us Apart
We are a TDSB Platinum Eco School. Our goal is to continue to maintain Platinum status. Our School Council is made up of at 15 active parent members. Its responsibilities include organizing regular community engagement events, fund-raising activities and a Skating Program to enhance school programs and to support various initiatives. We have regular parent volunteers assisting in the classrooms, on field trips and with fund-raising. The School Council provides input into the budget process, school initiatives and Board policies and procedures, in an advisory capacity to the Principal.
