Oriole Park Public School is located at Eglinton Avenue and Avenue Road, nestled in a well-established community of mostly single unit homes. The school opened in 1928 under the name of College View Avenue School with portables on the present site and an enrollment of 28 students. The current school building was first occupied in 1930 and renamed Oriole Park Public School. A wing was added in 1939 and a gymnasium in 1974. The school has both a primary and junior play area, a basketball court, soccer field and two baseball diamonds. The library includes a computer lab and the classrooms have terminals accessible to all students. Oriole Park has a highly regarded academic program and offers a broad range of co-curricular activities.
Home and School Connections
Teachers organize several opportunities throughout the school year for parents and children to come together for Family events. Many of these events take place in the evenings or late in the afternoon where parents with their children can interact in a focused curricular area; for example, Family Math Night and Science Showcase.

Active School Community
Our parent community works in many ways to support our staff and students. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available for those who have the time to commit on a regular basis or for those who can help out on a field trip or special classroom program. Various fundraisers are organized to enrich and supplement what the school can offer our students.
Tomorrow's Teachers Today!
Oriole Park is proud to host a variety of teacher candidates into our school community. Having these budding educators in addition to our regular volunteers and Tutor in the Classroom helps provide additional support for our students, as well as exposure to different perspectives and teaching styles.
Music at Oriole
All of our students have rich experiences in music. With a music teacher on staff, students get music instruction weekly. In addition to our regular music program, grade 5 & 6 students receive band or strings instruction. Extra-curricular arts activities include a choir, dance group and school wide musical.

Student Life - Where You Belong
In addition to a rigorous academic program, students have many opportunities to participate in a variety of co-curricular opportunities. We have a variety of athletic teams that participate in competition against other TDSB schools in basketball, soccer, cross country, ice hockey, softball, track and field, ultimate frisbee and volleyball. We host a school wide performance that allows all of our students to participate but allows those with a bit of dramatic flair to take on lead roles. A choir performs at assemblies and other school events. Students are also offered the opportunity to participate in clubs such as Chess, Kids Lit, Dance, Yoga, Art and Mind during the lunch hour. As children move through our school, they are provided with many opportunities to become school leaders through their involvement as lunch monitors, office helpers and student announcers. Large fundraisers such as the Terry Fox Run help develop student awareness to charity fundraisers while the grassroots fundraisers such as class organized book drives help the students make a difference for others.
What Sets Us Apart
As a small school, a genuine sense of community is developed among our student body. Through our learning buddies, older students have the opportunities to interact with younger students on a variety of projects. Our students are provided with arts enrichment projects that allow them to work with professional artists on a special project. Our students are exposed to a variety of genres in the arts from opera to ballet, puppetry to multi-media productions. Scientists in the Schools makes the science the children are learning more real through hands-on interactive workshops a couple of times a year. Diverse learning experiences enrich our students' learning opportunities.
Parent and Community Engagement
Our parents are committed to providing resources and enrichment activities for all of our students. Many of our parents volunteer to assist with safe school arrival, our library, organizing birthday pencils, lice detection and as grade parents. A variety of parent run committees are organized to facilitate fundraising activities, science enrichment and arts enrichment. Regular family movie nights, a family skate night and our annual Mayfair event bring our community together outside the regular school program. These type of events further encourage and support our sense of community.
