Meadowvale Public School is located in the Meadowvale Community of West Hill on the east side of Meadowvale Rd. The school was first opened 58 years ago and was expanded in 1970 to include additional classroom space and a library resource centre. The school population fluctuates between 300 - 315 students. These students represent many different ethnic backgrounds. Meadowvale Public School offers regular programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. A private daycare centre is housed in the school building and offers supervision to pre-school and school-aged children. Registration to the daycare is limited.
Our Value Statement
Meadowvale is obligated to support the development of students by encouraging and empowering them to reach their full potential. We will achieve this by offering challenging, relevant and meaningful programs and by providing our students with tools to succeed in all areas of development. This will prepare them to meet the future with confidence and become successful responsible citizens.
Rights, Responsibility and Respect
We expect all students at Meadowvale to be positive, friendly, and sensitive to others. We also expect all students at Meadowvale to be able to resolve their conflicts in non-violent ways. Meadowvale Public School promotes a shared responsibility between children, parents and staff for maintaining a caring, safe and orderly learning environment.
Literacy
Our school is pleased with our students assessment results for reading and writing over the last few years. We will continue to implement and expand the following strategies: - use early literacy programs and ongoing professional development - use of IT and computer programs to re-inforce learning - continual update of the learning resource centre.
Numeracy
In order to continue to promote excellence in mathematics, we continue to implement the following strategies: - teaching the five math strands, focusing on understanding their relevance in everyday life and applying problem-solving skills - update the math resources at our school with more mathematic manipulatives - implementing the three part lesson plan.
Best Time Of Your Life
Attending elementary school is said to be the best time of a child’s life. Not only will they learn a great deal of new things and meet new friends, but they will make lifelong connections. Meadowvale life is about developing skills and having a good time when studying is taken care of first! These are the carefree years when our children are still very young, full of energy, enthusiastic and belonging to the new generation of the day. Their life is about studying, learning, growing and maturing. It is about friendly competition against their peers in sports and other activities, and it is about chasing dreams and nurturing high ambitions. Lastly, a student’s life is about victories, applause and sky-high levels of confidence and about defeats, disappointments and disillusionments that are a great leveller.
