About Keelesdale Junior Public School

Keelesdale JPS opened in 1958 in a temporary site at George Harvey C.I. Our current site officially opened in April 1960. Keelesdale JPS serves a diverse community of under 200 students. About one third of our students have a primary language other than English. Home languages include English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Tagalog and Hungarian. This diversity enhances and enriches our school community. Keelesdale JPS is a small community school with Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. We also have a Primary Special Education (Mild Intellectual Disability) class. Our programming supports all areas of study (i.e., Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, the Arts, French and Health & Physical Education).

Keelesdale Junior Public School is located in Keelesdale-Eglinton West

Keelesdale-Eglinton West, also known as Silverthorn/Silverthorne, was part of the former City of York before the amalgamation of Toronto in 1998. The hilly terrain of the Silverthorn is comparable to nearby areas but distinguishable compared with the city, which in general slopes south to the lake. Most homes in the area were constructed between 1914 and 1930. These residential dwellings consist of two-storey detached and semi-detached houses as well as to storey-and-a-half and bungalow detached homes.
