"With the Future Aces Creed, I know that I will succeed!"
Chief Dan George Public School, opened in 1984, is located east of Meadowvale Road, between Hwy. 401 and the Rouge River. Its boundaries include the rural area north of the Toronto Zoo and east to the Pickering Town Line. It is named after Chief Dan George, a well-known author and film actor from British Columbia. Our school community is comprised of students from the local area and from September, 2013, students who are bussed in for SK to Grade 8 French Immersion Program. Our school enrolment stands at 369 and continues to grow as new students move into the boundaries of our school community. Welcome to Chief Dan George P.S.!
Ontario Ministry Recognition
The Ontario Ministry of Education recognized Chief Dan George P.S as a "School on the Move" in the 2009 - 2010 school year. This designation is based on the steady improvement of student achievement scores, based on annual grade three and six EQAO assessments over a five year period. Despite many challenges, our student achievement indicators continued to improve. Similarly, our school was also recognised and participated as a "Schools in the Middle," a Ministry of Education initiative, with the goal of continued student achievement.
