Charles G. Fraser Public School is located near Queen and Bathurst Streets. The school was founded in 1877 as Markham Street School. In 1926 it became Charles G. Fraser Public School in honour of Principal Fraser who had been its head from 1909 to 1928. The school currently serves over 250 students of various racial and cultural backgrounds. Charles G. Fraser offers an International Languages Programme, (Cantonese and Mandarin), after school, for two and one half hours, one day per week. The school has a child care centre for children 1.5-6 years, and a Parenting Centre. It is also one of the sites for the Board's Kindergarten Intervention Program. Charles G. Fraser has a very active music programme (Vocal, Band, Strings, Choirs).

Over 80% of our student population live within the immediate community allowing for strong relationships to grow both during and after school. The School Community
Charles G Fraser is home of Fraser Daycare, a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre and Adult ESL classes. Since 1986, Fraser Daycare has provided quality programs for young children. It currently services children aged 18 months to 6 years. The Parenting Centre provides a rich and welcoming kindergarten readiness program for young children (newborn to 6 years) and their families. It is an excellent place for parents to connect with other adults and form a support network. Adult ESL classes (Level 1-4) are offered during the school day. Many parents attend these classes to develop their English skills while their children attend school.

Model Classrooms and Professional Development
Several Charles G Fraser teachers serve as mentors as they welcome teachers and Faculty of Education Students into their classrooms to share knowledge, collaborate and promote the use of Best Teaching Practices in Literacy, Numeracy and Technology. Teachers meet regularly to plan, share ideas, provide feedback, assess and reflect on their teaching and student learning.
Music Programs
Charles G Fraser provides many opportunities for students to develop their understanding and love of music. We offer a Primary and Junior choir, Band and Strings for our grade 5 and 6 students, and itinerant Orff instruction for our primary students. Music classes are taught by a specialist teacher. Annual Winter and Spring concerts showcase the students' musical talents.

The entire Charles G Fraser school community is committed to ensuring that each child achieves to the best of their ability. Students are empowered to take ownership of their learning. Their progress is closely monitored and instruction is tailored to students' individual needs. Staff regularly attend Professional Development and utilize this new learning with students.
Technology in the School
Technology plays a key role in our school. Two computer carts comprised of laptops, chrome books and netbooks provide opportunities for full class instruction. Our primary classes have access to over 80 I-pads with educational apps. Interactive White Boards are utilized in each of the classes. The Primary and Junior LEGO Robotics teams compete at annual tournaments.
