Here at Floradale Public School we believe that all children are capable of learning and we work together as a community to foster collaborative learners who are confident in their ability to be leaders, risk takers, critical thinkers, effective communicators and problem solvers. We believe that all students can learn in an environment with caring staff, differentiated instruction, innovative use of technology and continuous assessment of and for learning. Our teachers are dedicated professionals who are constantly learning as well as collaborating with each other and with other Peel schools to improve student learning.

Parents and guardians are our partners in education at Floradale. Parent involvement is a focus for student success. Shared goal setting in academics and learning skills with parents, students and staff ensure a strong partnership between home and school. In addition, we have a community rich in talents and are fortunate to have volunteer support in many areas including school council, “All Star Reading” program, lunch and breakfast programs, office and classroom volunteers, as well as many other areas of every day school life.

A positive climate for learning is embedded in every aspect of our school community and ensures the academic, social, physical and emotional support that each child and family needs. Leadership amongst our students is a priority and there are many opportunities for student engagement, including our student council, playground activity leaders, morning announcers, green team, office helpers and lunch and door monitors. Extracurricular activities include basketball, floor hockey, cross-country, track and field, chess, writing, art, and dance, origami, homework and guitar club as well as choir and arts performances throughout the year.

Community partners are also integrated into our programs at Floradale, such as school anti-bullying initiatives aligned with the Peel Regional Police and Peel Health; multicultural settlement support for families new to Canada; the Peel board Readiness Centre engaging parents and their preschool children; as well as other important programs such as “Breakfast for Kids” and our weekly “Family Literacy” sessions.

At Floradale, we believe that diversity is our strength. Each and every student has the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential in our supportive caring community of staff, students and parents. It is the collective work of our community that makes Floradale such a special place to learn, grow, develop and succeed.
