Our School
Bedford Park is situated in the North Toronto community. The school opened in 1911. Between 1914 and 1920, 24 new rooms were added. In the mid-1970s, an addition was added which included the gymnasium and swimming pool.

More Information About Bedford Park Public School
Reading and Writing
Bedford Park Public School plans to continue to implement the use of Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA), Exemplars and Comprehension Attitude Strategies Inventory (CASI). Additionally, we will continue use of the Library Resource Centre as a support for research, writing and reading projects, and information technology.
Mathematics
We will emphasize the communication of mathematics solution strategies through use of the following: math totes, journals, sharing times, and small group work. Furthermore, we will increase the use of manipulatives at the junior grades, three part lessons and use Ministry exemplars in assessment practices.
Special Education Team
Bedford Park Public School will support and expand the use of our Special Education team of teachers as consultants in helping regular teachers differentiate, accommodate and/or modify curriculum in the regular classroom for students with special needs and assist teachers in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.s).

What Sets Us Apart
The school serves over 700 students -- JK-Grade 8 and a staff of 42 teachers along with 3 support staff. The Bedford Park Community Centre permits our facilities. The Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Toronto shares our pool, gymnasium and playground. Ranleigh Rascals, a school-aged daycare centre serving about 100 students, is housed in the school.
