Hilltop Middle School, founded in 1958, is located in a residential neighbourhood in the Royal York and Westway area. It is a dual-track school, offering both English and French Immersion instruction. Approximately 560 students attend Hilltop. The French Immersion program draws students from the entire West End of Toronto.We are proud of our rich, cultural and socio-economic diversity. Our goals for our students are built on the pillars of Academics, Equity and Well-Being. We provide opportunities for students to excel in the areas of academics, athletics, musical pursuits, clubs, teams and community service. Together with parents, we work to foster each child's success.

Taking Learning Beyond the Classrooms
Hilltop Middle School is committed to providing excursion opportunities for all our students to extend their learning. Each grade is offered different excursions to participate in:
Grade 6 - Outdoor Education, through the Etobicoke Field Studies Centre. The Art Gallery of Ontario. The ROM.
Grade 7 - Overnight Excursion at Albion Hills, through the Outdoor Education Centre. The Ontario Science Centre.
Grade 8 - Overnight excursion and trips to national museums, galleries and historical sights, outside of the GTA.

Student Leadership
The staff at Hilltop MS provides students with varied leadership opportunities. A number of students are elected by their peers to the Student Council. We have our Leadership Program available to our grade 7 and 8 students. Our Me to We Team helps drive community partnerships. Our Athletic Council is instrumental in organizing Intramural sports.
Nutrition Program
Hilltop Middle School hosts a Nutrition Program, through funding from the Toronto Foundation For Student Success. Parents can enroll their child in the morning snack program, which will provide a drink, a grain product and usually a dairy or fruit product.
Extra-Curricular Clubs and Teams
At Hilltop, we believe in providing students with opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, ranging from sports and music to interest clubs. Students have an opportunity to tryout for Cross Country, Soccer, Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Softball and Track and Field. Go Hilltop Falcons!
Guidance Program
Whether your child is entering Grade 6 or preparing to transition to secondary school from Grade 8, our Guidance program will support your child every step of the way. We host special Parent Information Meetings so that parents and students can make informed decisions.

Student Life - Where You Belong
"A Place Where Everyone Knows Your Name!"
Here are Hilltop, we strive to get to know every child and to provide them with opportunities both inside and outside the classroom to develop everlasting friendships. Whether it is through extra-curricular activities such as sport teams, clubs, dances or excursions, students understand the importance of developing social skills on top of academic skills. We also look for opportunities to showcase the musical talents at our school. Students in both the band and strings programs traditionally showcase their talents in the Winter and Spring concerts as well as at the Kiwanis Festival. G.T.K.Y.D. (Get To Know You Day) At the beginning of each year, our Staff and Grade 8 students organize and lead an afternoon of co-operative games for our younger students. This promotes teamwork and collaboration as well, it provides an opportunity for students to "get to know" one another and the staff at Hilltop.
What Sets Us Apart
Hilltop students are encouraged to develop self-esteem and ethical behaviour by developing daily practice of appropriate behaviour learned through Character Education programs. We also recognize and promote Character Education through our Student of the Month assemblies, led by students. We promote student learning of social and environmental issues and support various causes throughout the year (eg. Terry Fox Run, Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund and the Holiday Food Drive). Hilltop is committed to supporting all students. We focus our instruction on Literacy and Numeracy skills development, for all our students. We provide support for students who require extra attention and enrichment opportunities for students wanted to go beyond.
Parent and Community Engagement
We have an active and dynamic group of parents in our School Council, representing both the English and French tracks of study. Our School Council has organized parent workshops. The parents have supported fundraising and have contributed to the school's technology plan, as well as literacy and athletics. Come join us for our School Council Meetings!
